Twinkle Stars Age 12 months-2 years


diaper-danceOur newest program for the littlest movers and their caregiver — Diaper Dance — is a 45 min. movement class designed for ages 12 months to 2 years and their caregiver. This class is the perfect introduction to movement for the very young child not ready to separate but ready to explore in a nurturing learning environment. The basic elements of dance are introduced in a positive and loving way using props such as scarves, stuffed animals and musical instruments. Caregivers (in comfortable clothing) and children participate together throughout the class. Little movers must be walking. 8-week sessions of Twinkle Stars are offered throughout the year.

 

 

Shooting Stars Age 2.5-3 years

kreative-kidsA 45:00 introductory dance class for ages 2.5-3 containing ballet and creative movement. Students are introduced to basic ballet vocabulary, while exploring movement and music in a fun, creative way. Our instructor uses imagination games, upbeat age-appropriate music and props like scarves, hula hoops, tambourines and maracas to inspire and excite students about dance. Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening and working with others. This class is a positive and fun first dance experience for all.

 

 

 

Shining Stars Age 4-5 years

kombo-kidsA 55-minute class for ages 3-4 containing ballet, tap and jazz in a safe, positive environment. Dancers in this class will improve flexibility and coordination through fun, age appropriate movement and exercises. Each week jazz is taught for 30 minutes and tap and ballet are on alternate weeks for the other 30 minutes. Dancers benefit from the learning of the three basic disciplines as each supports a different technique. Upbeat age-appropriate music and props like scarves, hula hoops, tambourines and maracas also inspire and excite students about dance. Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening and working with others.

 

 

All-Stars Age 5-6 years

A 55-minute class for the 5-6 year old comprised of jazz and tap. During the All-Stars year dancers are introduced to more formal dance technique. This class will lay the foundation for correct, safe and successful dancing in years to follow. Students will expand on the basic steps and terminology from the Shining Stars level in ballet and continue to explore their own movement in a safe, positive environment. Students will also work on refining rhythm and musicality through listening activities and the use of rhythm sticks, tambourines and other instruments and props. Dancers in this class will improve flexibility and coordination through fun, appropriate movement and exercises. Placement Notes: It is highly recommended that All-Stars be at least 5 years old by October 1st. Students younger than this should consider the Shining Stars class for their dance experience. Students will perform 2 numbers in the year end show.

 

 

Broadway Kids Age 7 and up


popstarsThis upbeat class teaches Broadway-style jazz choreography and show-stopping stage presence with a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from a variety of musical productions, past and present. Broadway Kids is a great class for aspiring Broadway stars! Students will perform 2 numbers in the year end show.

 

 

Superstar Hip Hop Age 6-9 years


Hip Hop encompasses many different urban dance styles such as poppin’, locking, breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Our Hip Hop classes teach rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography without suggestive music or movements. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class. Our Hip Hop dancers develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun. This is an excellent class for high-energy kids who want to take a fast and fun dance class. Students will perform in the year end show.

 

 

Starlettes Ballet Age 7-9 years


A recreational class for the dancer who wishes to experience the foundation of modern-day dance.  This beautiful and demanding technique is a necessity for all young, aspiring dancers. Students will perform in the year end show.

 

 

Starlettes Tap +Jazz Age 7-9 years


A recreational class for the dancer who wishes to experience the unique style of American theatrical dance and Irish Step, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. Our tap classes stress the basics of tap while also teaching musicality and rhythm. Students will perform in the year end show.

Jazz classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and style with an emphasis on proper technique, alignment and movement quality. Set to jazz, R&B, ethnic and pop music, jazz classes are a great workout and fun for all ages. Students will perform in the year end show.

 

 

 

Starpower Acro Age 6-9 years


Our acrobatics classes focus on developing flexibility and strength. Students will learn basic contortion and acrobatic tricks such as front and back walkovers, scorpions, chin stands and cartwheels. Dancers who need work on their flexibility should consider stretch class to their class schedule. Students will perform in the year end show.

 

 

 

Jazz

jazzJazz is a fundamental dance form that complements all other dance forms. Jazz classes are comprised of a warm-up, center work and progressions including jumps and turns. Technique and style through choreography are emphasized. Beginner students will learn basic jazz steps, progressive skills and jazz combinations and routines. Jazz is offered to all ages from beginner to advanced.

 

 

Ballet

balletBallet is the foundation for all dance forms and improves strength, poise, balance, and control. Technical skill gained through the study of ballet is beneficial for all other forms of dance. Ballet will give students the fundamentals in classical and contemporary ballet.

All ballet classes follow the R.A.D. method (Royal Academy of Dance).

 

 

Modern

modernModern developed from ballet dancers who wanted to explore movement without the confines of rigid ballet technique.

Strong ballet and jazz techniques are necessary for this advanced discipline.

 

 

Tap

tapMake music with your feet! Students will learn basic, progressive and intricate tap steps and rhythm combinations. Develop and improve timing, rhythm, and coordination. Once you start tapping, you'll never want to stop!

 

 

Lyrical

lyricalLyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.

 

 

Contemporary


contempoaryContemporary blends elements of ballet, jazz and modern dance. Freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing, balance and contraction/release. Modern and Contemporary Dance forms allow students to explore their individual dance style outside of the structure of traditional ballet and jazz classes.
Strong ballet and jazz techniques are necessary for this advanced discipline.

 

 

Musical Theatre

musical-theatreThis program combines dance movements with an emphasis on developing acting and performance skills. Routines and combinations are inspired by musicals and movies. Dancers will use facial expressions and body movements to portray different characters and story-lines.

 

 

Acro


acroAcro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

 

 

Hip Hop

Ballroom

Whether young or old, ballroom dance lessons will provide you with a new outlook on life. Knowing how to dance provides confidence and a source of social enjoyment in all kinds of settings. Rising Star provides instruction that is easy to follow using music that is current. At the beginner level students are introduced to Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot and Jive. Intermediate students build on the basic of these dances and progress into Cha Cha and Samba.

Classes are designed to be fun and social so that you and your partner can dance comfortably at weddings, company parties or a night on the town.
